After traveling to Africa for 3 months volunteering, then backpacking Europe for 6 months, I headed home to save like mad, and am now back in Africa studying Field Guiding so I can share my passion with others.

5 weeks.....
So time is getting shorter, departure is getting closer, the excitement is growing, but so is the stress. Lots of things still need to be done, although the list seems to have stopped growing, at least for the time being anyway!!!!! Injections are halfway through, one assignment is finished and more are started.

6 weeks....
So things are starting to come together, I have almost finished 2 assignments (only 4 or so to go), started with immunizations (changing gears while driving is now optional, or very painful), we have travel insurance and just need to send off a check to Europe, and the 3 months in Africa is paid for!!!! The list of thing to be done is still unending, time is still flying, but the excitement is building and the light is visible at the end of the tunnel. Ready or not, in 6 weeks I fly out!!!1

10th Squadron Dedication
The 10th squadron (who my grandfather served with during the war), celebrates its 70th anniversary this year. To commemorate those who served with the squadron, or continue to serve with it, a plaque was placed in the Shrine grounds dedicated to the 10th Squadron. In between 2 shifts at work, I took my grandma in to the unveiling. A nice service, with a fly over which was very fitting, and now a place where we can remember those who served with the squadron
7 weeks...
Why is it that when you have so much to do, time seems to speed up, yet when you have nothing to do it drags. As departure gets closer, the list of things seems to get longer, not shorter. Surely as I mark things off that need to be done before I leave, that would make my list shorter, but as is always the way, when you complete one task, you think of 2 more that need doing. Thus, the list grows, the time gets short, and the panic grows. (OK so maybe no panic yet, but I'm sure in time it will come!) Surely, sometime in the next couple of weeks, the 'To Do' list has got to start shrinking, not growing.

8 weeks....
8 weeks until I leave, and I have just had my last free day of not working, its now 8 weeks of work, with a list of things that need to be done before I leave that just keeps growing, and not getting any smaller. On the bright side, I wont have any free time to sit around being bored, but sleep maybe an optional extra I wont have time to experience. Such is life.
