10th Squadron Dedication

The 10th squadron (who my grandfather served with during the war), celebrates its 70th anniversary this year. To commemorate those who served with the squadron, or continue to serve with it, a plaque was placed in the Shrine grounds dedicated to the 10th Squadron. In between 2 shifts at work, I took my grandma in to the unveiling. A nice service, with a fly over which was very fitting, and now a place where we can remember those who served with the squadron

7 weeks...

Why is it that when you have so much to do, time seems to speed up, yet when you have nothing to do it drags. As departure gets closer, the list of things seems to get longer, not shorter. Surely as I mark things off that need to be done before I leave, that would make my list shorter, but as is always the way, when you complete one task, you think of 2 more that need doing. Thus, the list grows, the time gets short, and the panic grows. (OK so maybe no panic yet, but I'm sure in time it will come!) Surely, sometime in the next couple of weeks, the 'To Do' list has got to start shrinking, not growing.

8 weeks....

8 weeks until I leave, and I have just had my last free day of not working, its now 8 weeks of work, with a list of things that need to be done before I leave that just keeps growing, and not getting any smaller. On the bright side, I wont have any free time to sit around being bored, but sleep maybe an optional extra I wont have time to experience. Such is life.

PILLOW FIGHT

Today was International Pillow Fight Day-how fun. Went into the city to participate in Melbourne's pillow fight. Unfortunately, my friends piked on me, but it was their loss.

Not a massive turnout, but about a hundred people turned up. So much fun, between the museum and the Royal Exhibition Centre we bashed each other with our pillows, with feathers and fluff flying everywhere-yes those story books with pictures of children having pillow fights and the feathers go flying in the air are true, when a feather pillow bursts, the feathers do go puff in the air-so fun.

Pillow fighting is a fun way to exercise, you get a nice workout doing it!!!! Bring on next year!

Sandsculptures

Visited the Frankstone Sandsculptures again this year, this time with my parents some Aunties and Uncles. Again, they were fantastic, in my opinion better than last year. There is just so much to see, and different angles show you things you hadn't seen before.

Unfortunately, it had been raining so there were puddles everywhere, and some of the sculptures have had parts break off them, whether from the rain we had had, or because they have been there for a while, it is hard to tell, but it was a bit sad.

The long slow road to Vet Science?!

I have started on what I hope to be the road to Vet Science. I am doing a Certificate II in Animal Studies, which will give me the experience to become a vet nurse (When I eventually finish it after I get back from my adventures in Africa and Europe).

Then it is a matter of getting a job as a vet nurse (not an easy thing to do), so I can then complete my Certificate IV in Vet Nursing.

Once I have experience as a Vet Nurse, then hopefully one of the University's will feel sorry for me and let me in!!

Or someone could just be kind, and let me in, and save me all the trouble and time.

We can but try!

New Year Celebrations

Happy New Year to all of you out there. May the new year bring you new opportunities, joy and fulfillment.

My New Year's Eve.
Spend the day at Coldstream Vet Clinic, cleaning and helping with grooming, then headed round to my brothers to hang out until going with him to one of his mates houses to see in the new year. Nice and relaxing, watching movies (Take note: Seven Pounds is very confusing when watched at 2am. Apparently if you miss 45minutes due to sleeping, you are still very confused. On the bright side, in the last 5 minutes we did managed to work out what was going on in the movie, and hey presto! it all made sense :) )

And so onto the New Year...What will it bring? More work, volunteer work, some study, a trip overseas (wait for it... including some more volunteer work) a new job?-we can but keep our fingers crossed, and hopefully some more time catching up with friends and family.

Movied out!

I was given a double movie pass to La Premier for Christmas last year, and had to use it by the end of December this year. Therefore, on Christmas day I thought I really should go and see some movies before my tickets expired.

So... Boxing day, after I had been to Coldstream and helped to clean out the cattery, and had a lovely morning tea there, I then headed to Eastland to see Australia. Boxing day sales were in full swing, so parking was at a premium. None the less, I saw my movie, not too bad, and headed home.

27th....Decided I wanted to go the the Moonlight Cinemas in the Botanic Gardens. A lovely place to go and have a picnic, spread your rug out, crawl under the blankets and get eaten alive while trying to peer round peoples head to see the movie!!!! After telling the people in front to stop sitting up so I could see, I enjoyed James Bond, and thanks to the fairly warm weather, didnt even freeze to death. No-one wanted to come with me-snobs you all-but enjoyable all the same.

Sunday 28th...Day off from movies, but tried to go to some markets instead. Unfortunately, out of 3 markets apparently on every Sunday, only one was on, but what can you do?

Monday 29th...Back to the slog of work, and then to the movies!!! Again back to Eastland, this time to see The Curious Case of Benyamin Button. Not a bad movie, a bit slow to start, but good.

Tuesday 30th...Was supposed to go and see Twilight with some work mates, but they pulled out and so I was saved from a 4th movie-apparently we missed a good movie. Do I see another solo trip to the movies in the distance.....

Christmas

Christmas was a beautiful warm and sunny day spent with family and friends. Eating out on the deck, with fresh beautiful food, hand made Christmas crackers (each with a handmade Christmas decoration and mind teaser inside!). What better way to spend your day!!

Could be a bit different next year, with me planning on spending Christmas in Europe, but you havent lived until you have experienced and white Christmas and a hot Christmas.
