After traveling to Africa for 3 months volunteering, then backpacking Europe for 6 months, I headed home to save like mad, and am now back in Africa studying Field Guiding so I can share my passion with others.

Live below the line
I have decided to participate in the "Live below the line" campaign. It is a campaign to raise awareness and funds for those living below the poverty line. The challenge is to buy all your food for 5 days (16-20 May), with less than $2 a day-no food from the pantry, all ingredients, including salt, oil etc.
Today I bought my ingredients,
Rice- $1.60
Pasta- $0.79
Lentils- $1.82
Tinned tomato- $0.79
Pumpkin- $0.99
Soup pack (veggies)- $2.99
Apple- $0.55
Mandarin- $0.37
TOTAL $9.90
I then decided to cook most of the food for the week, and freeze it in portions, rice and dhal for breakfast, pumpkin soup with pasta for lunch, and lentil/tomato soup with pasta for dinner, with carrot, apple and mandarin for snacks.
