After traveling to Africa for 3 months volunteering, then backpacking Europe for 6 months, I headed home to save like mad, and am now back in Africa studying Field Guiding so I can share my passion with others.

Table Mountain exists!!!!
So after being here for a day and a half I was begining to think that Table Mountains was just a myth that people spoke about, as I had only ever seen the bottom of a mountain, and didnt believe that a top actually belonged to it.
Much to my joy and amazement when I awoke today, there was a top to it!!!!!! As it can be very temperamental, I decided to head straight up and spend the day exploring the mountain. After walking up to the base, I decided that I would walk up the side of it instead of catching the cable car-it seemed like a good idea at the start. Unfortunately I got slightly geographically embarresed, and ended up walking along the wrong trail for an hour and a half (with the most amazing views so it wasnt all a disaster) before I finally found the correct trail, and managed to make it to the top. Half way up I decided that it was one of the worst decisions I had made to walk up the side of the mountain, but once I got the the top, it felt like an amazing acheivement, which would have been made much better had I been able to actually see anything!!!!! Oh well the views on the way up were fantastic and made up for it!
After having a bit of a wander across the top, and seeing absolutely nothing I headed up to the highest point on the mountain, took some photos of the cairn to proove I was there (I couldnt see anything else so not really sure if it was the top or they just say that) and then had to head back down so I could make it to the bottom and back to the hostel before it got dark-going down was much easier!
Table Mountain emerging out of the cloud-well mostly
The view across the top-or lack there of, this is what I climbed for hours to see :)
At the highest point

Hi Petal, so glad you saw it, you wanted to so much, you duffer, no sense of direction, just like your mother!
Glad the views were worth it!
Love Mum
